Gilberto ’77

About

Gilberto ’77 hails from Fernandina Beach, Florida, carrying a name rooted in local legend. On Thanksgiving Day in 1977, the Gilberto ship ran aground just off the island, and more than 25 tons of bud went up in smoke — sending waves of good vibes across the coast. That spirit of laid-back freedom and community still fuels the band’s sound today.

Blending melodic indie, funk, and jam-band energy, Gilberto ’77 creates improvisational grooves that are equal parts soulful and uplifting. Their music feels like a sweet coastal breeze — warm, breezy, and unexpected — with each performance shaped by the moment and the crowd. Always ready to stretch a song into something new, the band invites listeners into a space where good vibes linger and the groove never stops.

In the Room

Gilberto ’77 has become a familiar face at Tigre Island Room, bringing their signature blend of indie-funk fusion to our stage time and again. Every set feels fresh — rooted in improvisation and carried by the energy of the night — and their loyal following shows up ready to ride the groove with them. Having them back in the room always feels like a celebration of the island itself.
