Captain Midnight Band
About
Formed in New Orleans and now based in Nashville, The Captain Midnight Band is the world’s only known purveyor of Waterbed Rock & Roll. Imagine crunchy rock guitar riffs melting into thick R&B grooves, topped with soaring harmonies and just the right touch of cosmic weirdness. Their sound slides between polished and greasy, slick and slippery—like funk-fueled rock soaked in starlight.
With a live show that’s equal parts jam-session spectacle and intergalactic party, Captain Midnight has shared stages with heavy hitters like Dark Star Orchestra, String Cheese Incident, Goose, and Billy Strings. Fans often compare them to legends like P-Funk, Frank Zappa, and Ween—but the truth is, there’s no real comparison. This band exists in its own orbit.
Their latest live album, LEISURE MGMT. LIVE (recorded in Asheville, NC), captures the full Midnight experience: raucous, raw, and completely unrestrained. Still, fans know the real magic happens in the flesh—because when Captain Midnight takes the stage, that’s where the butter is stored.
In the Room
When Captain Midnight Band hit the Tigre stage this November, it was a full-blown voyage through funk, rock, and sci-fi-fueled chaos. The crowd danced, laughed, and got fully lost in the groove as the band turned the room into their own interstellar jam session. Pure, electrified fun from start to finish—let’s just say, we’re already plotting their return to the island.
